چکیده

Background: Celiac disease is a common autoimmune disorder that is diagnosed based on clinical case identification, serological screening, and duodenal histology. However, the existence of mild clinical forms, such as seronegative cases with patchy atrophy and potential celiac disease, can make it difficult to determine a definitive diagnosis. The seronegative patients with celiac disease can include those with discordant antibody results and false-negative results, due to unknown origins or selective IgA deficiency. Case presentation: We present two cases with discordant antibody results in order to evaluate if the simultaneous detection of specific antibodies can improve the serodiagnosis of celiac disease. In both patients, the simultaneous detection of IgA/IgG anti-tissue transglutaminase/deamidatedgliadin peptides gave discordant positive results by the same antibodies assayed individually. Conclusion: Although further studies are needed to confirm and extend our findings, the simultaneous detection of specific antibodies seems to improve the serodiagnosis of celiac disease in patients with discordant antibody results. [Anti-deamidated gliadin peptides antibodies and coeliac disease: state of art and analysis of false-positive results from five assays].

Recently, anti-deamidated gliadin antibodies were proposed for the serological diagnosis of celiac disease. We evaluate the specificity of different anti-deamidated gliadin antibodies ELISA in comparison with conventional anti-native gliadin kits. Serum samples from 46 non celiac patients were analyzed by five different quantitative ELISA for anti-native gliadin, anti-deamidated gliadin and ant...

Celiac disease: antibody recognition against native and selectively deamidated gliadin peptides.

BACKGROUND Selective deamidation of glutamine residues by tissue transglutaminase (tTG) turns gliadin peptides into stronger activators of T cells from celiac disease (CD) patients. We examined the possibility that these modified peptides could be more specific epitopes for circulating antibodies than are native peptides. METHODS Two native synthetic peptides and their respective modified seq...

The Diagnostic Value of Serum IgG-Antigliadin, IgA Anti-endomysial and IgA Anti-tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies for Pediatric Celiac Disease

Background and Objective: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder, characterized by inflammation, villous atrophy, and crypt hyperplasia of the small bowel mucosa. In this study we considered and compared sensitivity and specificity of serological tests in patients with celiac disease. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study we prospectively recruited children with suspected c...

Coeliac disease is an inflammatory disease of the small intestine caused by ingestion of wheat gluten or related proteins from rye or barley. In the small intestine, ingested gluten is broken down into gliadin peptides which are deamidated by the enzyme tissue transglutaminase (tTg) resulting in the substitution of glutamine amino acid residues with glutamic acid. These modified gliadin peptide...
